And here’s how it all started…

My name is Jochen Schlaghecke and I live in the Netherlands. With a career of over 25 years in design and illustration, it was about time to move into a new direction. Staying close to my profession, since design and illustration are closely related to visual arts, I started creating acrylic paintings on canvas. At first, I had a go at totally abstracted work which looked decent, but didn’t really satisfy me. After a while, I discovered I wanted to make my art more concrete, make people see what I wanted to show them.

I’ve always been inspired by the pop art works created by artists like Andy WarhoI, David Hockney and Roy Lichtenstein, and many others and I wanted to create recognizable subjects in my paintings instead of a collection of undefined shapes. I started creating abstracted, figurative art, What I like to do is reduce details and bring everything down to the most crucial parts and shapes.

My goal is to create art with a high decorative value, paintings that make people feel more happy and beautify their homes, offices or wherever they like to hang my work.
